Cullman Parks and Recreation

Smith Lake is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Holding the World Record for spotted bass catches for five consecutive years, Smith Lake is home to professional and casual fishing throughout the year. Additionally, five hundred miles of shoreline provide opportunities for camping, picnicking, swimming and boating. The Sipsey Fork of the Black Warrior River remains in the 50-65 degree range all year providing an opportunity for anglers interested in rainbow trout to test their skills.

The Cullman area has many popular outdoor sites: Heritage Park is home to softball, soccer and multipurpose fields, picnic areas, basketball courts, playgrounds, a fitness trail and water play area. Hurricane Creek Park offers rock climbing, rappelling and bouldering, mountain biking, camping, hiking trails, picnic areas and more. Sportsman Lake Park features a small scale-train that travels along the shore of the lake as well as fishing, mini-golf, pedal boats, and a mini-Ferris Wheel and carousel. Four golf courses are located nearby with pro-shops, driving ranges, and dining facilities.
