Guntersville proudly hosts an abundance of fun and diverse events each year. Guntersville is a regular stop on the ESPN/BASSMASTER Tournament tours and Guntersville is always a popular spot for many other fishing tournaments throughout the year.

Other popular events include the Eagle Awareness Program, sponsored by the Lake Guntersville State Park; the Wild Irish 10K run in March; Art on the Lake will shower you with Art in April and the Alabama Wild Game Cook-off in May will get you ready for the summer. Guntersville is also the place to be for the 4th of July as the city sponsors a fabulous fireworks display over beautiful Lake Guntersville.

When the holidays roll around, Guntersville is always in the holiday spirit with the downtown Christmas Parade, a Whole Backstage Christmas production and the Boat Parade of Lights.

The arts community in Guntersville is definitely alive and well. You will always find something going on such as Art on the Lake, Winterfest, Summer Musicals, or just a relaxed lakeside summer concert.

The Mountain Valley Arts Council (MVAC) is dedicated to the advancement of the arts in and around Marshall County. The Mountain Valley Arts Council hosts a number of events throughout the year including lakeside concerts every Tuesday night throughout the summer.

Theater enthusiasts will marvel at the newly renovated Whole Backstage Community Theatre.


The Whole Backstage has built a reputation for excellence over the last 30 years. The theatre is a vital part of the artistic community, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and fun. The Whole Backstage presents plays throughout the year, offering something for everyone’s taste. Over the last few years, Whole Backstage shows included Camelot, Steel Magnolias, Annie, Death of a Salesman, The Sound of Music, A Christmas Carol and 1776.

Over the past 10 years, the Guntersville Museum has seen much prosperity. It has amassed a large art and artifact collection. The museum also hosts many special events, exhibits, and fundraisers. The museum focuses not only on Guntersville’s rich history, but also on art and culture. Its purpose is to preserve our history, inform visitors and citizens, and promote art and culture in the area.
