Points of Intrest

Artesian Wells – Prattville was originally nicknamed “The Fountain City” as a result of its large collection of artesian wells. While some of these wells have been capped or ceased to flow, many still welcome the public to enjoy a drink of their sweet, mineral-rich water. Notable wells are located at Heritage Park, in the backyard of the Prattaugan Museum & Heritage Center and in the tin-roofed wellhouse on Doster Road.

Autauga Bluebird Trail – Birders enjoy visiting the Autauga Bluebird Trail along Highway 14 in Autauga and Elmore Counties. The trail, which will eventually extend from Georgia to Mississippi, features more than 230 boxes that serve as breeding sites for Bluebirds as well as House Sparrow, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Wren and Brown-headed Nuthatch species. Autauga Creek Canoe Trail – Historic Autauga Creek—a scenic waterway flowing through Prattville and Autauga County—is great for those who enjoy canoeing, kayaking or floating. The Autauga Creek Improvement Committee continues to improve and expand the waterway, which currently extends from the Alabama River to the Daniel Pratt Mill Dam and another four miles above the dam. The main trail starts behind City Hall (mile 6) and ends at Canoe Trail Park (mile 2). Access additional information at

Buena Vista – Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Buena Vista is a beautiful antebellum mansion currently operated by the Autauga County Heritage Association. Built circa 1822, Buena Vista’s 24-foot spiraling staircase is said to have been duplicated by Andrew Jackson for his home, the Hermitage, in Nashville. The home is open for historic tours every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and is also utilized for weddings, receptions, luncheons, corporate events and many other private events. Further information is available at

Capitol Hill – Capitol Hill is one of the most popular sites along the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Its courses have earned nods from reputable sources like Golf Magazine and Zagat. Capitol Hill’s Senator Course, a Scottish-Links course, is the proud home of the Navistar LPGA Classic, which has been held here every September since 2007. Learn more at
