Calendar of Events

Some of the state’s most exciting and unique events and festivals can be found in Tuscaloosa County. People from all over come each year for a diverse line-up of entertainment opportunities for the entire family.

• Heritage Week is held each April. The week-long event draws people from throughout the South to Tuscaloosa’s beautiful Antebellum and historic homes and sites, along with many related activities.

• A-Day is held each year in the spring. Fans pack Bryant-Denny Stadium to watch the Alabama football team play a practice game, white team vs. red team.

Arts Festival

• Druid City Arts Festival is a free arts festival that takes place in the spring each year. It introduces new music and visual arts to the community.

• July Jubilee, July 4th in downtown Tuscaloosa, is West Alabama’s largest Independence Day event. It includes live and patriotic music, activities for the kids and fireworks.

• Kentuck Festival of Arts, held on the third weekend in October, has become one of the South’s most prestigious and recognized arts and crafts festivals. It draws over 200 of the nation’s top artisans and craftsmen and over 25,000 visitors.

• AHSAA Super 6 Football Championship is held at Bryant Denny Stadium on a bi-annual basis between Tuscaloosa and Auburn just after Thanksgiving. Top high school teams compete for the state championship.

• Tuscaloosa Farmers’ Market Fall Festival is held at the River Market where all ages are welcome to participate in pumpkin painting and trick-or-treating.

• Holidays on the River ice rink and winter village opens in December at the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum.

• On Saturdays in December, the Tuscaloosa River Market hosts visits with Santa and holiday movies and features winter produce, holiday crafts and seasonal festivities.

• West Alabama Christmas Parade, usually the first Monday in December in downtown Tuscaloosa, is West Alabama’s largest holiday parade. Expect floats, costumes and group entries with plenty of holiday spirit.

• Dickens Christmas, usually the first Tuesday evening in December, is a family-filled Christmas experience in downtown Northport providing an old-fashioned holiday treat.

• Christmas Afloat is held on the Black Warrior River in Tuscaloosa and features holiday-lighted boats and watercraft.

• Other events like Alabama Crimson Tide football weekends, hot air balloon races, airshows and barbeque competitions fill the entertainment agenda of residents and visitors in Tuscaloosa County. Please visit our comprehensive community calendar at
