Wilcox County offers progressive community and industrial development as well as tourism, peppered with southern charm. Located mid-way between the metropolitan areas of Birmingham and Mobile, Wilcox County, with a population of 11,431, is located in the historic Black Belt region of the State. The Alabama River weaves through the County providing a back drop for waterfront housing and outdoor recreation.

There are five municipalities in Wilcox all with unique characteristics and offerings: Camden, Oak Hill, Pine Apple, Pine Hill and Yellow Bluff.

Major industries in the county include a paper mill operated by International Paper, based in Memphis, Tennessee and Golden Dragon Copper Group of Xinxiang, China located in Sunny South.

Medical care is provided by J. Paul Jones Hospital, several family physicians and rural health clinics.

Wilcox County offers a plethora of artistic, cultural and special events. It is home to the nationally renowned Gee’s Bend Quilters.
