Government in Chino Valley

Government in Chino Valley AZ

Chino Valley has a Council-Manager form of government. This consists of the mayor and six councilmembers. The town council meets on a regular basis every 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month in the Council Chambers at the South Campus (202 N. State Route 89). Study sessions or special meetings may be held on the 1st and/or 3rd Thursday of each month in the same location, or at a date and time as needed. These meetings are taped and available for public viewing on Chino Valley’s Government Access Channel 13. This channel also provides residents access to forums, local parades and festivities, local theater productions, special presentations and public service announcements.

Law enforcement is handled by the Chino Valley Police Department and Yavapai County Sheriff’s Department. Both are proudly supported by volunteer search and rescue teams. Dispatchers are on-call 24 hours a day to receive 9-1-1 calls. The dispatchers determine the type of assistance needed and send emergency personnel to police, fire and medical emergencies

Fire and emergency medical response is provided by Chino Valley Fire District. The CVFD is governed by a five person, elected fire board and provides coverage for the town of Chino Valley, Paulden and the surrounding county properties. They are managed under a new agreement known as a Joint Management Agreement (JMA). This means that they share an administrative staff with the Central Yavapai Fire District. The JMA provides for greater efficiency, increased capacity, decreased duplication of management, and an overall cost savings for both agencies.

CVFD responded to over 2,500 emergency related responses in our community. The fire district takes pride in providing service to our community through prevention, protection and education.

The Chino Valley Fire District operates out of three fire stations that are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each fire apparatus is constantly staffed with certified paramedics and emergency medical technicians that provide prompt and advanced medical care to our community. The specialized Technical Rescue Team provides additional rescue capabilities in rope rescue, swift water rescue, trench and confined space emergencies. Our Wildland Response Units are operated by highly trained firefighters that provide wildland firefighting operations as well as preventative education to homeowners on keeping their homes firewise.
