Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) is Northern Arizona’s only regional referral center, caring for more than 100,000 patients each year. Since 1936, FMC has provided high-quality healthcare services to the residents and visitors of Northern Arizona. With nearly 200 physicians and approximately 1,800 employees, FMC provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art healthcare from diagnostic outpatient services to open heart surgery.

As the only Level I Trauma Center north of Phoenix, FMC provides care to critically injured patients. The Trauma Center helps ensure patients in Northern Arizona have access to life-saving care during the Golden Hour that follows a trauma, when immediate care could mean the difference between life and death.

FMC and the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona offer the advanced heart and vascular care that patients might expect to find in a large metropolitan area. Expert physicians provide a full range of services including open heart surgery and minimally invasive heart and vascular procedures; major chest traumas; treatment of heart rhythm conditions; cardiac rehabilitation; and wellness programs.

Mountain Heart

FMC is a designated Primary Stroke Center, the only stroke center in Northern Arizona. Patients treated at a Primary Stroke Center have better short-term and long-term outcomes. As a Primary Stroke Center, patients and their loved ones can be assured FMC has the technology, physicians and established processes to immediately diagnose and treat stroke victims. Additionally, FMC has both inpatient and outpatient services including electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring to record the electrical activities of the brain, intensive neurological care, community education and outpatient physician offices.

As a state-designated Cardiac Arrest Center, FMC provides comprehensive, technologically advanced care to patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. During a sudden cardiac arrest, interventional cardiologists work directly with the EMS personnel, emergency physicians and a team of highly trained staff to ensure the most rapid response. Advanced protocols help save lives as well as preserve heart muscle and prevent brain damage.

FMC's Bariatric Surgical Weight Loss Center is a comprehensive program that provides not only weight-loss surgery, but also patient education and support for patients choosing a surgical solution. FMC is the only hospital north of Phoenix offering the weight-loss surgery and is nationally accredited by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare, located in Flagstaff and Sedona, uses state-of-the-art technology, the latest research and advanced cancer-fighting treatment options to treat all types of cancer diagnoses. The multidisciplinary team of oncologists, physicists, therapists, nurses, social workers and dietitians ensure each patient’s treatment is individualized, comprehensive and coordinated.

The Spine and Joint Surgery Center offers a unique approach to those patients who require total joint replacement or spine surgery. At FMC, joint surgery patients are not viewed as ill, but rather as healthy individuals, who through this program, can get back to the lifestyle they enjoy. The program focuses on providing exceptional care and patient education.

The Fit Kids of Arizona program helps children improve their health while reducing the health consequences related to childhood obesity. The program includes the clinical services as well as community services. The Fit Kids clinical team is made up of medical, nutritional, fitness and behavioral experts who work on an individual basis with children and their families. The goal is to identify health concerns and problem areas and then guide the participant and family members in setting goals for improvement.

FMC’s Therapy Services is comprised of certified physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and massage therapists, each with advanced training to help maximize their patient’s quality of life. Whether help is needed to recover from an illness or an injury or to get in top condition for a sport, a job or daily activities, the team of therapists can help patients get back to doing the things they love.

FMC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), the only PICU in Northern Arizona, is equipped and staffed to provide advanced care to critically ill or injured children and their families. Using child-specific and age-appropriate equipment and technology, the highly trained staff provides care that is patient-focused and family centered.

Team Health Primary

Team Health Primary Care is an innovative, full-service primary care practice that takes a team approach to healthcare for every age and stage of life. The team of healthcare professionals includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and support staff who specialize in family medicine and/or internal medicine. Most insurance accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid/AHCCCS. In addition to primary care, the practice also offers neurology and neuropsychology services.

FMC is a member of Northern Arizona Healthcare, the largest healthcare organization in Northern and Central Arizona, which serves almost one half of the state of Arizona.

North Country HealthCare is the only publicly supported community health center in the area. In 1991 a small group of providers, health and human service representatives and consumers mobilized to establish the Flagstaff Community Free Clinic. In 1996 the clinic transitioned from a volunteer organization into a state and federally funded community health center. Since then, North Country HealthCare has expanded services to 12 other communities across northern Arizona, providing medical care to people from all walks of life.

North Country HealthCare in Flagstaff offers many healthcare services including primary care, dental care, OB/GYN care, pediatric care with Reach Out & Read, an in-house pharmacy, integrative medicine and acupuncture, laboratory services, radiology, behavioral health, chronic disease self management programs, a diabetes self management program, HIV/AIDS care including Ryan White medical case management and support services, a radiation exposure screening and education program, a sexual assault program and support group, and screening for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer.

Most commercial insurance plans are accepted, in addition to Medicare and AHCCCS (Medicaid). Uninsured patients can qualify for a sliding fee scale based on income and family size. Co-payments on the sliding fee scale range from $25-$50. For more information, (928) 213-6100.

Mountain Heart Health Services is Flagstaff’s premier cardiovascular care center and accredited sleep facility. The Mountain Heart care team strives to reduce the morbidity, mortality, and disability of cardiovascular disease, sleep disorders, obesity, diabetes and pulmonary issues through comprehensive patient care at the lowest possible price point. Mountain Heart provides educational classes, support groups, such as the Better Breathers Club, preventative medicine, an on-site community blood lab through Sonora Quest laboratories, interventional services, rehabilitation services, patient advocacy and aggressive disease management. In addition to its Flagstaff headquarters, Mountain Heart also operates clinics in Sedona, Winslow, Williams and Page. Summit Fitness, Mountain Heart Wellness located adjacent to the main clinic in Flagstaff, offers Wellness Services including nutritional counseling, personal training and a team of physical therapists through DeRosa Physical Therapy.
