The 494-seat Elks Opera House is in a prominent structure on East Gurley Street, just one-half-block from the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza. The Elks Building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, and the Elks Opera House was the setting for the First Lady Laura Bush’s PRESERVE AMERICA Award in 2004. The opera house is a significant venue for concerts, plays, political events, films, conferences and an array of special events including weddings, graduations and more. The theater has been restored to its 1905 glory, including opera boxes, new seats and a complete paint and ceiling restoration as well as the proscenium arch above the stage. With the completion of the restoration and an investment of $1.75 million, the Elks Opera House Foundation resolved to produce the best of the performing arts and has completed the first season with a variety of presentations.

Since its creation as a community summer orchestra in 1992, the Prescott POPS Symphony, under the direction of Maestro Paul Manz, has emerged as Prescott’s premier performing orchestra with a unique contribution to the culture of our community. Their goal is to provide the highest quality, dynamic and accessible symphonic entertainment to local audiences; to offer challenging and inspiring performance opportunities to talented youth and seasoned musicians; and to support the perpetual promotion of music as a vital part of the community through donations and scholarships to schools and students. Beginning its 47th season, the Yavapai Symphony Association (YSA) presents the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra (PSO) in concert for Prescott and surrounding communities. Providing music lovers a classical music experience, YSA sponsors the concert season with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra from September to May. YSA also sponsors scholarships and cooperates with Phoenix Symphony members in providing Masters classes for aspiring local music students. These classes are taught by the Symphony musicians for local students of all ages. As a follow up, YSA also provides to the students and parents free tickets to PSO concerts. Each year YSA gives away thousands of dollars of these tickets as a further means of encouragement to the youth of Yavapai County thereby assuring the continuance of the appreciation of classical music in our part of Arizona. YSA is also very proud of its scholarship program for music-major college students. In 2012 six scholarships were awarded in the amount of $16,000.

The Yavapai College Performing Arts Center hosts a spectacular range of entertainment, from national touring performers like Kris Kristofferson, Wynton Marsalis, and Mary Chapin Carpenter, to live satellite broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera, and weekly movies on a state-of-the-art projection system. Following a full renovation of the interior, sound and lighting in 2011, the Performing Arts Center is a thoroughly modern facility that seats up to 1,100 guests and is available for rental for special events. Situated within the hall is the Yavapai College Art Gallery, which hosts exhibits by college and outside artists, as well as presentations and cultural events throughout the year.

The four-acre Sculpture Garden is a peaceful and innovative site on the college campus. Located next to the Performance Hall and Art Gallery, the park fuses gorgeous landscaping with contemporary sculpture. Its meandering walks enhanced with a variety of beautiful trees and shrubs provide a graceful setting for study, quiet contemplation and make it a delightful area for outdoor events. Currently, the garden is home to 12 sculptures.
