Healthcare in Snowflake

Healthcare in Snowflake

The area’s biggest source of healthcare is the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, less than 20 miles from Snowflake/Taylor. With 66 licensed beds, the medical center provides health services to more than 40,000 residents in its surrounding areas. The hospital promotes healthy lifestyles among White Mountains residents through numerous services and programs ranging from Cardiac Rehabilitation and Surgical Services to Home Health Services, Occupational Health and a variety of support groups. The center also offers classes on Stress Management, Weight Management, Mind and Body Health, Prenatal and Babysitting.

Currently, the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center has been undergoing a massive expansion and renovation project since August of 2005. The expansion consists of a new, five-story patient tower equipped with a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit and an 18-bed Medical/Surgical Unit on the first floor; a 24-bed Medical/Surgical Unit on the second floor; and a third floor holding a modern Obstetrical and Women’s Health Unit, which will include an observation nursery and 20 private rooms. Completion of the expansion is scheduled for spring of 2008.

The building’s renovations in the current Obstetrical Department will be composed of a new, eight-bed Level II nursery, seven labor and delivery rooms and a two-bed outpatient triage room. In addition, the hospital is constructing a new kitchen and dining section.

The Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center continuously strives to provide above-quality healthcare to its patients. In May of 2006, Solucient, a pioneer in medical information products, named the facility one of the top-performance improvement leader hospitals in the country.
