graphicTucson’s transportation services range from an international airport and extensive citywide bus system, to a trolley that travels the hip University District; and it has the distinction of being the "Second-Best" U.S. city for bicycle travel.

The most recent addition to the Old Pueblo’s transportation innovations is a free downtown shuttle service, serving downtown worke (the location of city, county, state, and federal offices) every 10 minutes.

For those arriving in Tucson to either attend or work at the University of Arizona, the state’s preeminent education institution also operates a shuttle system for those who wish to park-and-ride to the sprawling 350-acre campus.

Tucson’s mark in the seven major high-tech cluster markets (number one being Optics) recently improved with daily flights being scheduled to both San Jose and Seattle. (Does "Silicon Valley" ring a bell)?

Being a "dry heat climate," bicycling is very popular in Tucson despite the triple-digit temperatures, so Sun Tran (the City’s bus system) has installed bike racks on all of their buses. The city also offers a free "Bike Trail" map that shows you the significant routes as well as an incredibly extensive river trail route that will eventually encircle the city.

Another interesting fact is that Tucson was one of the four original cities targeted to market electric cars. Because of this, there are numerous "charging stations" around town for those environmentally conscious drivers who run on batteries.

Tucson also has a variety of airport shuttles (to both Tucson and Phoenix airports), taxi service, limousines, jeep tours, and rental car companies.

The airport is located on the south side of town. For those interested, they offer "behind-the-scenes" tours. (573-8000).
