Business and Industry

In close proximity to Little Rock and major transportation opportunities, Benton’s location provides an ideal business environment. The many industries located in Benton and surrounding communities possess both land and water freight transportation avenues at their disposal. The Saline County Regional Airport, located on a 1,200-acre site just southeast of Bryant can handle aircraft ranging from small private planes up through most large corporate jets. In 2015 a business office and traveler center was completed.

Many established industries such as industrial ceramics, pollution control systems, steel fabrication, veneer, gravel, asphalt and others already enjoy all Benton has to offer – great location, available land and low costs.

In late 2015 ACDI purchased the old Harvest Foods downtown and is beginning to construct its modern new building. Access Control Devices, Incorporated is a leading professional services company and the #1 distributor of PaperCut Software in North America and Canada. The company will bring up to 40 new high tech jobs to our downtown area and families to our community.

Major retailers and hometown shops enjoy Benton’s prospering retail climate. Retail chains and franchises including the Home Depot, Sears, Walmart, Hallmark and Office Depot have contributed to the city’s growth. In 2015 Hurricane Creek Village was opened. Housed in it are major stores such as Academy Sports and Kroger.

As part of Saline County, the city has many advantages. Services offered through the Arkansas Department of Economic Development and its Saline County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) in finance, marketing, training and productivity, and advocacy are some of the ways this department helps businesses reach their potential.

The county is designated by the state as an Enterprise Zone, making sales and use taxes on equipment and material used in expansion and new construction refundable.

Saline County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to facilitate and lead a county-wide coordinated effort to accomplish economic growth to all new prospective industry and business as well as assisting all existing business and industry in our county.” The corporation is housed in the Benton Area Chamber of Commerce.
