Honda Center is Southern California’s premier entertainment and sports venue.
Honda Center hosts a variety of first-class events each year, including concerts, sporting events and family shows. The 650,000-square-foot arena is home to the NHL Anaheim Ducks as well as the prestigious John R. Wooden Classic. Annual events at the 19,200-seat facility include the World Wrestling Entertainment and the Harlem Globetrotters.
Angel Stadium of Anaheim, home of the Anaheim Angels, has a history dating back to April 9, 1966. Major League Baseball’s sixth-oldest venue, Angel Stadium was also home to the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams for 15 seasons and has undergone numerous renovations and expansions.
Originally named Anaheim Stadium, the facility was inaugurated in the spring of 1966 when the California Angels, as the team was renamed when it moved from Los Angeles, played their first game in Anaheim.
Angel Stadium of Anaheim stands today as one of baseball’s oldest and tradition-rich venues. Other sports entertainment venues in Anaheim include the Anaheim Convention Center Arena, now home to the Anaheim Arsenal, an NBA development league team associated with the Los Angeles Clippers, and the American Sports Center, the largest indoor sports facility of its kind in the world and the training facility of the USA Men’s Volleyball team.
Golfers in and around Anaheim find plenty to keep themselves busy with a pair of public courses in Anaheim.
The “Dad” Miller Golf Course, named for one of the area’s long-time golf advocates who drained his first hole-in-one at this course in 1970 at age 93, is an 18-hole par-71. A healthy amount of sand bunkers and water hazards dot the course, making each hole a challenge even for veteran players.
Anaheim Hills Golf Course, also open to the public, is a 6,245-yard, 18-hole beauty featuring rolling hills and tree-lined holes. The 366-yard No. 15 hole is popular for a tee elevated four stories above the rest of the course while the rest of the holes vary greatly in length and greens speed.
Also located in the Anaheim Hills, Oak Canyon Nature Center is a 58-acre natural park consisting of three adjoining canyons. Four miles of hiking trails traverse the park (one of the few remaining areas of oak woodland and coastal sage scrub in the region), and the canyon is home to native wildlife.
Nature lovers also enjoy visiting Rancho Del Rio Stables, where therapeutic riding and horse back riding lessons are offered.
