Introduction

The Goleta Valley of California, located just eight miles north of Santa Barbara, is a jewel on the South Coast, harbored between the Pacific Ocean and the Santa Ynez Mountains.

Encompassing more than 40,000 acres of land, the Goleta Valley offers its community and visitors more than good weather and spectacular views. It is home to more than 80,000 residents who enjoy a wonderful quality of life filled with the natural beauty of the beach, majestic open spaces, parks, shopping, restaurants, recreation opportunities, art, music and theatre.

The City of Goleta, incorporated in February 2002, is located in the middle of the Goleta Valley. More than 30,000 residents call Goleta home. This map delineates the city’s boundaries. Proximity to the airport, the world-renowned University of California at Santa Barbara and a vibrant high-tech business sector, make Goleta a unique destination on the California Coast. The suburban feel belies the fact that Goleta is a major employment center in the County and provides the highest-paying jobs. Goleta boasts a superb public school system, many parks and open spaces, centralized shopping and a quiet, hometown atmosphere.
