Park and Recreation

The City of Healdsburg Parks and Recreation Department maintains more than 13 different parks. In addition, the department manages the 150-acre Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve. The most recent park project includes the newly renovated Giorgi Park.

In addition to parks and open space, the department also has a full-service senior center located in the heart of downtown Healdsburg, a community center and public pool. The beautifully restored four-acre Recreation Park is a nostalgic look back to small town ballparks with its grandstands and concession stand.

The department offers a number of youth and adult programs, including swim lessons, adult softball, after-school programs, senior activities, summer camps, youth sports programs and much more.

Children & Teen Activities
During the warm months, the Healdsburg Swim Center offers swimming lessons, lifeguard classes, water exercise and Master Swim programs, lap swimming and plenty of time for recreational swimming. Exciting and innovative spring and summer camps keep youth active and engaged during school breaks, and year-round the department offers a wide variety of classes including art, music, sports and martial arts.

Preschoolers have music, art and play programs just for them, as well; some include parent participation, others offer tots opportunities to be away from their caregivers. After school, local elementary and junior high school students participate in a highly regarded program that collaborates with the Healdsburg Unified School district to provide homework help, enriching activities and nutritious snacks in a safe and nurturing environment at no, or minimal, cost to parents.

The Mobile Recreation Trailer gives the department the opportunity to bring structured recreational activities to our parks and underserved neighborhoods. The Mobile Recreation Trailer is also available for rent, with trained staff included, to parents seeking creative and engaging birthday party activities for their children.

Adult Activities
Those looking for fitness and well-being programs choose from yoga, Pilates, walking fitness, belly dance and Zumba classes at the Healdsburg Community Center. Individuals interested in learning new skills partake in classes offering Conversational Spanish, art, music, gardening, dog training and more. Sports enthusiasts can form a team and participate in one of the many adult soccer and softball leagues offered by the department or improve their skills in tennis, golf or other sports. New classes and programs are continually being added.

Healdsburg Golf Club at Tayman Park located on the shoulder of Fitch Mountain is a PGA regulation nine-hole layout. Overlooking views of beautiful Dry Creek Valley, this wine country course with its undulating terrain is a treat to play.

Events
Tuesdays in the plaza in the summer have become a tradition. Bring your picnic supper or visit one of the street side local vendors to pick up your dinner. Music, good food and friends mingle Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m. through Labor Day.
