Welcome to the City of Irwindale, also known as “Jardin de Roca”, Spanish for “Garden of Rocks”. The city was incorporated in 1957 and although small, (only 9.5 square miles) we enjoy progressive growth, guided by a unique vision that clearly distinguishes Irwindale as a city that takes pride in its close-knit, family-oriented community environment.
Situated in the center of the San Gabriel Valley at the confluence of the 605 and 210 freeways, Irwindale is an exciting place to do business and our potential for growth rivals that of any of our neighboring cities. This is clearly demonstrated with such well-known companies as Southern California Edison, Ready Pac Produce, City of Hope, MillerCoors, Breeders Choice Pet Food, Superior Communications and Huy Fong Foods. The sand and gravel mining industry remains a significant part of the city’s strength, (including such companies as United Rock Products, Vulcan Materials, Hanson Aggregates and Robertson’s Ready Mix). A significant achievement for the city is that two of the reclaimed rock quarries will be converted into developable land in the next 10 to 15 years.
The city continues to strengthen through a diverse cross-section of businesses including local success stories such as Davis Wire, Jacmar Food Service, 3M Unitek, California Custom Fruits and Flavors and Foodmakers Bakery Equipment. Our businesses reflect the city’s dynamic nature – a clear sign that Irwindale is the place to invest and grow!
Investment in our infrastructure is critical to our quality of life. Major street improvement projects continue throughout the city.
The City Council’s vision for the future is to maintain Irwindale’s small-town atmosphere for the residents and business community to ensure the city continues as a safe, stable, well-managed and financially secure community for all.
We welcome you to become part of our unique community and help us build the city’s successful future, one rock at a time!
