Merced County Human Services Agency’s “All Dads Matter Program” strives to increase parental effectiveness of fathers by helping them understand the vital roles they play in their children’s lives. “All Dads Matter” promotes responsible parenting through education, empowerment, mentoring and supportive services.

Atwater Caring About Kids Community Council

Organizes a variety of social, educational and recreational activities available to youth (5 to 17) and provides an interactive forum and dialogue between police, citizens and the youth of Atwater and Merced to benefit community building.

Boy and Girls Club of Merced County

SMART Moves (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training) The club’s programs provide knowledge, skills, self-esteem and peer support to avoid alcohol, tobacco and drugs. At-risk youth learn to avoid drug-related activities and postpone sexual activity.

Camp Green Meadow

Jack L. Boyd outdoor school is a week-long residential outdoor science and environmental education program for fifth and sixth grade students from schools throughout Central California. The Green Meadows facility is at the edge of Yosemite Park and also serves as a conference and retreat center.

Castle Air Museum

The museum provides low-cost tours for schools, clubs and organizations to showcase the military heritage for future generations.

Castle Challenger Learning Center

The learning center exposes young minds to the fundamentals of science, technology and engineering in an entertaining manner. The exhibits open minds to the infinite possibilities that exist in a world of math and science. It also exposes students to applied uses of science and math that further their understanding of how basic principals can eventually catapult to advancements that literally open up new worlds to them.

Center for Independent Living

The center advocates for the rights of people with disabilities. They offer services to assist people with disabilities to reach their goals of independence. In addition, the Center for Independent Living offers advocacy services to assist consumers in matters involving benefits, housing and employment.

The Center provides assessment and other services where an individual can receive help in dealing with loss of eyesight through an individualized plan focusing on developing skills to promote and/or maintain independent living.

Cerebral Palsy Association of Merced County

Provides equipment, home modifications and more, as well as emergency food and assistance to those afflicted with cerebral palsy and their families. Therapeutic education and physical education support activities are also available.

Challenged Family Resource Center

Foundation for Improved Living – Circles

Hinds Hospice

Hinds Hospice is a nonprofit agency that provides in-home care and aid to people in the final stages of their life. These services are also available for patients in skilled nursing hospitals and residential care facilities as well. This faith-based organization serves as a clearinghouse to the community. They keep an active list of resources collected by churches within the county and refer out to those in need by matching equipment, food and clothing that has been requested. This is done through confidential intake counselors. Computer systems aid in networking with other churches and organizations.

Playhouse Merced exists to entertain, educate and enlighten community audiences and students through the artistic medium of live theatre. Maintains a Children’s Conservatory program, which entertains students throughout Central California.

Provides youth with educational and therapeutic experience in the performing, visual and literary arts through workshops, performances, festivals and teacher services. Focused programs are for art classes and storytelling to preschool-aged children. Additional educational materials are given out to parents to engage their children in social and creative activities throughout the day, which will develop the necessary skills to become successful learners in elementary school.

This is a partnership between committed business, education, government and community leaders who support education, workforce development and economic growth in Merced County. The mission is to support each child’s journey – from preschool to productivity. The major focus of the program is to advocate and obtain quality childcare for all children in Merced County.

Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Program – “ComVIP”
