Education

Education

First-class education is a cornerstone in the Milpitas community and is offered at every level – from early childhood education through post-secondary endeavors.

Nearly 10,000 K-12 students enroll in the Milpitas Unified School District, a highly acclaimed, public education system with one of the highest graduation rates and lowest dropout rates in the county. The majority of MUSD’s schools have earned recognition for excellence over recent times – eight schools are recognized as California Distinguished Schools, Calavaras Hills High School is a noted California Model Continuation High School and Rancho Milpitas Middle School has been named a California Schools to Watch-Taking Center Stage facility three times since 2005.

Schools

In addition to its traditional facilities, MUSD operates a Child Development Center and the Milpitas Adult Education (MAE) program which provides opportunities to obtain: a high school diploma, GED, college credit, U.S. citizenship and employment. MAE also presents various special interest classes and the largest correctional education program in California.

Private and parochial education is readily available in the area, as well. Milpitas Christian School is committed to “Educating the Whole Child” and offers both a preschool campus and a K-8 campus in town. Further private schools include Foothill Adventist Elementary School, Merryhill School, St. John the Baptist Catholic School and Rainbow Bridge Academy.

Post-secondary education is provided through a number of higher learning facilities throughout the region. Career-focused institutions, like DeVry University, Northern California Vocational College and Heald Institute of Technology, equip students to enter such industries as business, healthcare and technology, while various community colleges prepare students for transfer to a four-year university. Within a close distance, university-bound students have the choice of two University of California extension sites, as well as San Jose State, Santa Clara University, Silicon Valley University and Stanford University – to name a few.
