Dedicated to student achievement, Monrovia Unified School District sees to the educational needs of all scholars, from preschool to high school.
The district is comprised of Canyon Early Learning Center; Bradoaks Elementary, Mayflower Elementary, Monroe Elementary, Plymouth Elementary and Wild Rose Elementary schools; Clifton Middle School; Santa Fe Magnet School; Monrovia High and Canyon Oaks High schools; Mountain Park School; and Monrovia Community Adult School.
With a “College-Bound Culture,” students are prepared to pursue the next chapter in their educational journeys once they graduate. Early on, MUSD pupils are encouraged to think about their futures.
Aside from its rigorous academics, MUSD offers the Dual Language Immersion Program. Through this initiative, students learn Spanish and English as part of their routine via the Foreign Language Academy of Monroe Elementary. The overall goal of the academy is to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to be bilingual and bi-literate when they finish their primary education tenures.
Monrovia High School’s Math & Science Academy (MASA) boasts a complete, four-year high school curriculum for those interested in pursuing math and sciences as a career. The academy offers programs in robotics (award-winning!) and rocketry.
At Canyon Oaks High School, its Career Pathways for All Students Program provides pupils with five pathways to pursue. These include design, visual and media arts; performing arts; building and construction/engineering; health science and medical technology; and transportation.
Complementing their education, students can participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, including athletics and clubs.
HIGHER EDUCATION
Students who are looking to continue their education can do just that without going too far from their hometown. Located in Glendora, Citrus College is the oldest community college in Los Angeles County and the fifth oldest in the state.
Undergraduates can choose from 90 associate degrees and certificates of achievement, ranging from biotechnology to emergency management and homeland security. The college also ranks fifth among California’s 114 community colleges for producing associate degrees for transfer (ADT).
Mt. Sierra College is a private higher education institution in Monrovia. The college offers programs in visual design, information security, network communications, game arts and design as well as computer information technology.The college boasts 25,000-square-feet of space, which is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and spacious classrooms.
Pasadena City College boasts a high-quality education for its students. They can choose from degrees, transfer programs and certificates in 60 academic areas of study.
Each semester, the college serves nearly 30,000 students from 113 different countries. Likewise, the college is one of the state’s top schools for transfers to local universities.
