Chamber Introduction

The Novato Chamber of Commerce has been serving the Novato community since 1915. Our mission is clear: “To create and sustain a strong, diverse economy through business advocacy.”

The Novato Chamber of Commerce is more than a membership organization that hosts an occasional mixer and networking event. Our number one goal is to help create and maintain a strong local economy. We have been serving the Novato community for 99 years – 45 years before Novato became a city. We poured the first sidewalks in downtown Novato and worked to pass the bond funding for construction of the Golden Gate Bridge. We have always been dedicated to the well-being and long term sustainability of Novato.

So what are today’s functions of the Novato Chamber of Commerce? The Novato Chamber …

• Represents business interests to government

• Creates a strong local economy d Influences political action d Provides business-to-business contacts d Promotes the community

1. We are regularly engaged in representing your business interests with government. Whether at the local, regional or state level, we advocate for your interests. We have total access to local and state elected officials – many of whom we meet with on a monthly basis. Many members consider our involvement with government a priceless benefit!

2. We advocate for smart and reasonable development in Novato. The Chamber was a major supporter behind the efforts to bring Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s to Novato. Our support for the redevelopment of Hamilton and the building of over 1,800 new homes that revitalized the entire south portion of Novato was invaluable to the project.

3. We are very involved with the current process to maintain Novato’s commercial base. Land zoned in Novato for commercial activities is five percent, and the Chamber is fighting to preserve that five percent. We serve on two county-wide business attraction and retention organizations dedicated to strengthening and diversifying the local economy in Marin County.

4. We host luncheon programs and seminars that address topics important to your business. These low-cost events enhance your knowledge and expertise on issues that affect your business, and provide a networking opportunity to meet new clients and form new partnerships.

5. Promotion of Novato - A key component of our daily activities. The Chamber is the official Visitor Information Center for the city of Novato. We attract visitors to Novato for vacations, business travel and relocation. The Chamber also hosts the Festival of Art, Wine & Music, the largest two-day festival in Marin County that attracts over 80,000 visitors to Novato.

Chamber staff and board work every day to represent your interest with government, advocating for smart business development and promoting Novato. Through these efforts and activities, the Chamber ensures Novato retains a strong and sustainable economy.
