Nicknamed “The Village of the Foothills,” the City of Sierra Madre is three square miles of history and modern convenience. It is a small city in the foothills northeast of Los Angeles, home to 11,000 residents. The City sits at the base of Mt. Wilson where historic trails lead hikers and runners into the expanse of the Los Angeles National Forest.
Sierra Madre, California, has many reasons to proudly celebrate its Centennial in 2007. Upon visiting, you will find banners flying along the boulevard, bands playing and people frolicking throughout the year in celebration of the community’s 100th anniversary of city-hood.
On the anniversary of its incorporation, a costume gala at Alverno Villa launches a series of centennial events—from the Impressions of Sierra Madre Art Show, to a trip down the yellow-brick road with the “Wizard of Oz,” the story the town will read together through the national “One Book One City” program. A host of other centennial events sponsored by community organizations will culminate with Pioneer Days in October, when Huell Houser of “California Gold” will honor Sierra Madre’s gold treasure.
The Sierra Madre Chamber of Commerce works for businesses by becoming involved in and fostering dialog between local government, businesses, property owners, and other agencies to advocate for a strong, successful business community. The Chamber also serves as an information center for residents and visitors alike in obtaining information about the community.
The Chamber’s mission is to encourage a healthy business environment by advancing, promoting and supporting the businesses in Sierra Madre which it does by providing networking opportunities, workshops, business resources, advertising opportunities, as well as coordinating many Chamber-sponsored events throughout the year which help drive commerce within the City.
We invite you to become familiar with the beautiful and inviting Sierra Madre community as well as with the businesses in this directory as you make our home your destination for shopping, dining, hiking and relaxing.
