contentsYuba-Sutter CA Chamberads

From biking and fishing and boating to farm stands, events and festivals, the Yuba-Sutter region offers a wide variety of recreational, cultural and historical amenities and events that make this area a great place to live, work and play. We have museums, award-winning local theater and Pacific Flyway wildlife refuges that are a world-renowned habitat for ducks, geese and swans.

Our signature Sutter Buttes, known as the world’s smallest mountain range, welcome you to the Yuba-Sutter community and invite you to come celebrate with us. Guided hikes through the Middle Mountain Foundation are offered seasonally. The cover photo of the Madden House on the map and the inside photos were taken by local photographer John Hollis and capture the rich historical and rural beauty of the Yuba-Sutter area.

We usher out winter’s cold, wet weather and get ready for spring with the Bok Kai Festival, celebrating the Chinese water god Bok Eye. During the two-day celebration the historically significant Bok Kai Temple is open for worshippers and visitors. It is a truly unique treasure at the base of the levee in Marysville. Evening in the Forest, Bike Around the Buttes and the Annual Italian Night are just a few of the events going on. We celebrate our culture throughout the year as well at the Winter Pow Wow, the American Punjabi Festival, the Hmong New Year and the Sikh Festival and Parade to name just a few.

Summer finds every weekend packed with a variety of events, ranging from 5K walks to large street festivals. Agriculture is the lifeblood of the community and so, it too, enjoys celebrations themed to the area’s mix of fresh fruits and vegetables. The Summer Stroll and Peach Festival attract thousands for the mix of entertainment, fresh fruits and produce and a street filled with vendors with a variety of food, refreshments and products to sell. Our popular farm stands brochure lists almost 40 vendors throughout Yuba-Sutter that offer fresh-picked local produce including strawberries, cherries, peaches, tomatoes and a wide variety of additional fruits and vegetables.

The Yuba-Sutter Fair in Yuba City captures the rural spirit of this agricultural community with a mix of fun, shows, displays, vendors, livestock auctions and the ever-popular carnival rides for kids and adults alike. On hot summer days, Gauche Aquatic Park in Yuba City offers the ultimate in water park features. The Marysville GoldSox offers summer-long baseball at Appeal-Democrat Park in Marysville.

We celebrate holidays with the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Fourth of July events, a series of Christmas parades and Trees & Traditions, in addition to numerous performances at area schools and churches.

Those looking to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region won’t be disappointed. There are renowned boating, camping and fishing locations throughout the region. With names like Challenge, Dobbins, Loma Rica and Forbestown, the area we call the foothills is actually a collection of small communities, all of them with a rich historical past and many with links to the Gold Rush era. Marysville was once known as the Gateway to the Goldfields.

But it’s not just these Gold Rush era communities that make this area so desirable to visit. Premiere fishing, camping, hiking and boating are found in the foothills in places like Sycamore Ranch, Collins Lake, Lake Francis, Lake Engelbright and Bullards Bar Reservoir.

Add to that a group of wine and olive oil makers, hiking in wildlife areas, two active community centers and a day in the foothills will not be enough.

The list of reasons to celebrate Yuba-Sutter goes on and on. Local nonprofit, civic and community groups host dinners, wine auctions, home shows, health fairs, air shows and weekend events too numerous to mention. Visit the Chamber website at for a complete list of events and activities.
