Education

The Moffat County school system recently invested nearly $3 million in new buildings and renovations. The district serves approximately 2,300 students with lower-level class sizes ranging from 18 to 22 students. The district’s top educational priorities are attracting and retaining highly qualified staff by maintaining competitive salaries and benefits, maintaining small class sizes and aide support, and supporting core curriculum and interventions.

Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) assists high school students by offering dual-credit classes, giving students the ability to graduate from high school with an associate’s degree.

A local mill levy offers college scholarships to all Moffat County residents. In addition to typical two-year degrees, a student at CNCC can become a registered nurse, massage therapist, cosmetologist or study power plant technology. CNCC offers a variety of business support courses and continuing and beginning education in the trades. CNCC will be spending $35 million over the next two years to construct a residence hall, an 18,000- to 20,000-square-foot career and technical building and a 78,000-square-foot academic building.
