Tourism

Tourists can enjoy Meeker through the seasons. From hiking, biking, fishing and camping in the summer, to hunting and catching color in the fall, to snowmobiling in the winter, this scenic community and surrounding wilderness area is limitless in outdoor opportunities. Community Events follow the seasons also, with Range Call in the summer and Sheep Dog Classic and Smoking River Pow Wow in the fall. A new event is being planned for the spring to showcase the local arts and historical culture.

RECREATION

The White River and Flat Tops Wilderness is a second home to many hunting and fishing enthusiasts. Excellent outfitting services are in the area, including Sable Mountain Outfitters. Wyatts Sports Center complements recreation in the area with an abundant supply of equipment for most sporting needs. Meeker also boasts a beautiful nine-hole golf course.

MUSEUM

The White River Museum, housed in one of the original officers’ quarters from the ‘Camp on the White River,’ displays native American and early settler artifacts, pictures and other agency related items, as well as the plow that started the battle. Pictures, furniture, clothing and equipment from years past intrigue countless visitors who come each year.
