Located in south-central Las Animas County in southern Colorado where the mountain branch of the Santa Fe Trail and Scenic Highway of Legends meet is the city of Trinidad. Surrounded by the stunning Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Trinidad is elevated 6,025 feet above sea level and is home to an idyllic collection of rivers and lakes. Trinidad and the communities of Las Animas County offer the perfect destination for a move or vacation. Easy access to the area by road, rail or air makes traveling in and out simple.

Trinidad is located less than 20 miles from the New Mexico border and is the last town in a string of communities that lines Interstate 25. Amtrak’s train services are always a popular choice for anyone visiting the area. Offering two daily stops in Trinidad, Amtrak’s comprehensive rail system makes traveling in and out of the city smooth and simple.

Perry Stokes Airport is located 10 miles northeast of the city. The facility offers small-plane service and averages 30 inbound and outbound flights per day. For major commercial air travel, Colorado Springs, located two hours north of Trinidad, has a full-service airport.

Road travel, meanwhile, remains the easiest way in and out of Las Animas County. Interstate 25 runs through Trinidad and leads north to Pueblo or south to Raton, New Mexico. U.S. 160 runs west to Alamosa and east to Springfield, Colorado and U.S. 350 heads east to La Junta, Colorado.
