Art and Entertainment

Fairfield hosts numerous community events throughout the year including parades, fireworks, concerts, festivals, and carnivals. Two universities with large auditoriums for professional theatre and musical productions (Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts at Sacred Heart University and the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University) reward the avid theatergoer with excellent venues. Speakers from the world of arts and entertainment are frequent visitors to Fairfield, which is home to many actors, musicians, and writers. The Fairfield Theatre Company also provides children’s summer theater workshops in addition to big-name musical groups. For the history buff, there is the Fairfield Museum & History Center and the Ogden House & Gardens. For those with an interest in science and nature, there’s the Connecticut Audubon Birdcraft Museum, a national historic landmark, natural history museum, and the oldest private songbird sanctuary in the U.S. with changing exhibits, lectures, and children’s activities. The Connecticut Audubon Center is just up the road and is a center for environmental education with programs and exhibits, birds of prey, and injured bird compound, natural history library, and nature store. Lastly, Fairfield abounds with galleries for the art lover.
