Business and Industry

The Milford Chamber of Commerce Inc. tagline is “Get Connected,” and we mean it. Nobody does this better. Getting the job done is part of our work ethic.

The Milford Chamber of Commerce has been working with the business community since 1954. Partnering with Milford’s Department of Economic and Community Development, work is accomplished through an affiliated corporation, Milford Progress, Inc., to create the best economic conditions possible within the city.

Milford is home to major employers such as the SUBWAY World Headquarters, Alinabal, Schick, BIC Corporation and Milford Hospital.

Currently 11 banks, multiple credit unions and numerous financial institutions service our commercial and residential needs. Many offer business loans to entrepreneurs and start-ups in our business-friendly city. The Milford Chamber works with the Service Corps of Retired Executives, an arm of the Small Business Administration, to counsel on business plans, marketing and financing. The Women’s Business Development Center offers business counseling to all who enter their doors.

Corporate office parks welcome headquarters, research and development, back office, and companies. Over 200 manufacturing firms call Milford home. Many sales and service companies use Milford as their base to serve the expanding markets of Fairfield and New Haven Counties.

Milford’s trade area goes far beyond city limits to reach an estimated population of 850,000. Utilities have been deregulated, and consumer choice is available. Two power plants within city boundaries assure that an adequate supply of power will be available.

Milford is the optimum business market location in the area. Steady growth is evidence of that fact. Possessing a highly educated work force combined with skilled labor and craftsmen provide employers with a varied and talented labor pool.
