The Quiet Resorts is a haven for people who are active and love the outdoors. Visitors can bike on well-marked lanes throughout the coastal area or hit an off-road course, kayak or sail on the bay or the ocean, deep-sea fish, surf, or crab from a tranquil pier. Tee off on a wide variety of championship golf courses, or simply go for a stroll on the Bethany Beach boardwalk.
And, if your idea of recreation includes nothing more than a beach chair and a good book — you’re in luck too! For the sixth year in a row beaches of the Quiet Resorts have been ranked among the cleanest in the nation by the Clean Beaches Council.
Strolling the boardwalk isn’t just for the visitors! During the summer season, bands play on the weekends and families gather nightly to enjoy the town’s many fine restaurants and shops. Relax on one of the boardwalk’s benches with a cool drink (or ice cream cone) in hand and watch children play in the sand.
Once summer has ended, take advantage of the quiet times at the beach. The crowds are gone and it is easy to grab a bench and read a book or just watch the waves. A brisk walk along the boardwalk is also great exercise. For early risers, the boardwalk is the ideal spot to catch a beautiful sunrise.
The area is also resplendent with state parks and local beaches. Some notable attractions include Assawoman Wildlife Area Self-guided Automobile Tour, Bethany Beach Park, Delaware Seashore State Park, Fenwick Island State Park, Holt’s Landing, James Farm Ecological Preserve, and more.
