Welcome Letter

photoWhether you already live in Avon Park, are considering moving your family or business here, or plan to retire here, all will agree...Avon Park is a very special community to call "home". Avon Park enjoys large open areas, and parks and recreational opportunities abound. Around every bend are beautiful clean lakes perfect for all water activities—swimming, fishing, boating, and camping. We have schools that we are proud our children attend. Not only do our students excel academically, we can also boast of 11 state championship sports teams. Avon Park is also home to South Florida Community College which offers a wide range of academic studies as well as many cultural opportunities involving both local talent and well-known performers.

We also have reason to be proud of our historical main street and our "mile long mall". Our community spirit is strong, and represented by many service clubs and organizations. We welcome new businesses and families to enjoy what we do everyday. We love Avon Park and would like to do anything we can to make you feel the same way. Please call the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce with your inquiries...or stop in for a visit!

Chamber Overview

photoThe Avon Park Chamber of Commerce, governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership and operated by a paid professional staff, offers a wide range of assistance and services to area visitors, residents, and businesses. The Chamber answers thousands of requests each year by phone, mail, and walk-in visitors. The first inquiry of the day may be someone asking directions to a street or business; the next could be a business wishing to relocate to the area, needing demographic information. A progressive Chamber must act as the "Front Door to the Community" and be ready to assist with each request promptly and efficiently. The Avon Park Chamber strives to answer each request in this manner.

The more than 300 member businesses of the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce represent many aspects of the business world, from local retail trade to manufacturing and international exporting. For the resident, the Chamber of Commerce is a reliable source of both community information and business referrals. General information and business referrals are available by phone (941-453-3350) during office hours Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Chamber office, located at 28 East Main St., is stocked with a wide variety of brochures, maps and information about our city. We welcome visits from business people, residents and tourists alike.

Location & Transportation

photoAvon Park is centrally located, making it possible to drive to the beaches of the Gulf or Atlantic coast, visit the major attractions, and return-all in the same day. The central location of our city is one of the many reasons we welcome thousands of visitors each year.

The runway capabilities of Avon Park Municipal Airport’s 640-acre field allows private jets and planes to take off and land within federal safety parameters. Its central location provides easy access to surrounding metropolitan airports. The Avon Park Jet Center serves as the field’s Fixed Base Operator and offers charter service, plane inspection and maintenance services, as well as ground-based and flight instruction.
