Excellent healthcare is not hard to come by in Brevard County. The region is home to several top medical facilities, plus two rehabilitation hospitals and a number of clinics.

The 210-bed Parrish Medical Center in Titusville not only provides patients of the greater North Brevard area with a wide scope of specialties and services, but it is also the primary emergency facility for the crews and support personnel of the Kennedy Space Center. Parrish is equipped with more than 100 physicians on the medical staff and an 850-person support staff, and it has been recognized as “One of America’s Finest Healing Environments.”

The hospital has gone through many updates since its establishment in 1958, with its newest $80 million replacement facility having been opened in 2002. Parrish has also invested in a new healthcare center in Port St. John, which was completed in 2007.

Wuesthoff

The Wuesthoff Health System has established medical centers in both Rockledge and Melbourne. Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge (WMC-R) is a full-service, acute care hospital comprised of 267 beds.

The hospital hails as the only comprehensive Heart Center in North and Central Brevard County, and it also stands as the first hospital in Florida and the second in the country to acquire certification from the JCAHO as both a Primary Stroke and Coronary Disease Center.

Wuesthoff Medical Center-Melbourne (WMC-M) is the newest hospital in the county, also offering a full-service, acute-care facility. The 115-bed health center is ranked among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the country in physician satisfaction.

The Health First family in Brevard County includes Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Palm Bay Community Hospital and the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne.

Cape Canaveral Hospital is a 150-bed acute-care facility with a 120 physicians offering a range of specialties including cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics, urology, oncology, otolaryngology and gastroenterology.

The 60-bed Palm Bay Community Hospital offers an array of services from cardiopulmonary care and surgery to rehabilitation and intensive care.

Parrish

The largest, most comprehensive healthcare facility in east central Florida, Holmes Regional Medical Center affords Brevard County residents 514 beds, 24-hour emergency service, a Level II Trauma Center and services including endoscopy, laboratory, outpatient, orthopedic, diagnostic imaging, and women’s and children’s health, to name a few.

What’s more, rehabilitation services can be found at the 80-bed Healthsouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in Melbourne, as well as the Health First Medical Rehabilitation Center, which is also in Melbourne. Seven urgent care/walk-in clinics can also be accessed throughout Brevard County.

Clinic facilities include Royal Oaks Medical Center in Titusville, Brevard Family Walk-In Clinic and Sinai Walk-In Clinic in Rockledge, Palm Bay Urgent Care, Atlantis Urgent Care in Indian Harbour Beach and Premier Urgent Care, Omni Healthcare’s Urgent Care Center and Melbourne Urgent Care, all located within the Melbourne community.

On top of that, several special needs and addiction treatment centers are available, including Crosswind Youth Services in Cocoa, the Family Counseling Center of Brevard in Rockledge and Circles of Care, Inc., Devereux Hospital & Children’s Center of Florida, Easter Seal Center and the Women’s Center in Melbourne.

Senior Living
The large senior population in Brevard County are assured of plentiful optimum services within easy reach. In addition to more than 20 fine assisted living facilities are a host of home health agencies, senior nutrition programs through Meals-on-Wheels and the Seniors at Lunch program, adult day care centers, the Brevard’s Shepherd’s Center of Melbourne and Alzheimer’s disease care through the East Central Florida chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, the Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Memory Disorder Clinic in Melbourne and the Senior Help Line (631-2747 or 2-1-1).
