Cocoa-Cocoa Beach Area


The vast Cocoa-Cocoa Beach area, with a combined populace of nearly 31,000, is packed with high-quality amenities for residents and renowned attractions of all kinds for visitors.

The region is home to two higher learning institutions, one medical center, several sites for recreational activities and cultural enrichment, and much more.

In addition to the more than 15 public schools in the Brevard Public Schools District and 10 alternative education facilities serving students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, Cocoa is home to two fine post-secondary education institutions.


Brevard Community College’s main campus is situated in Cocoa, serving more than 20,000 students in an array of major degree fields. Adjacent to BCC is the full-service campus of the University of Central Florida, offering students 15 undergraduate and seven graduate degree programs.

The 150-bed, acute-care facility of Cape Canaveral Hospital is situated within Cocoa Beach, equipped with 120 physicians specializing in a range of medical fields including obstetrics, cardiology, oncology, pediatrics, urology and many more. Patients also have access to a variety of specialized local practices, mental health facilities, rehabilitation centers and support groups.


Recreational opportunities are plentiful in the Cocoa-Cocoa Beach area, with the Recreation Complex along the Banana River, encompassing a championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and boat ramps; the Cocoa Beach Country Club; the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach; and a number of parks.

For those who prefer a night at the theater, Cocoa-Cocoa Beach offers two stellar troupes. The Cocoa Village Playhouse has been a continuously running organization for over 16 years, providing four musicals each year, along with running the Stars of Tomorrow children’s acting and performance program.

The Surfside Players of Cocoa Beach is a community theater affording patrons an array of productions, from comedy to musicals to drama. The Surfside Players also runs the Surfside Youth Players.


Distinct museums span the foundation of the area, providing for a day of educational entertainment. Patrons can visit the Brevard Museum of History and Natural Science, the Astronaut Memorial Planetarium and Observatory, the Alma Clyde Field Library of Florida History and the popular East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame.

What’s more, Cocoa-Cocoa Beach offers the shopping districts of the historical Cocoa Village and Cottage Row; a host of fine dining establishments, including The Mango Tree, Yen Yen, The Surf and Gregory’s Steak House and Seafood Grill; and eco-tourism through the Cocoa Beach Manatee Watch tours and the Cocoa Beach Thousand Island tours. This distinct area truly encompasses the amenities of large city living, while providing residents with a close-knit, smaller town environment.
