A Classic Experience

From the full calendar of events and festivals to the abundance of area parks and outdoor activities, there is never a shortage of fun to be found in DeSoto County.

The Turner Agri-Civic Center Farmfest, The Chamber Springfest, DeSoto County Watermelon Festival, DeSoto County Rodeo, Bluegrass Festival and DeSoto County Fair are highlights for the entire area. Also popular are the Fourth of July Parade and Bull Riding, Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade and Christmas Card Lane.

Each month, the community hosts two celebrations: Market Days and the Antique Fair. Both events draw visitors from throughout Florida and highlight the eclectic offerings of area businesses.

On the rare occasions when something unique is not on the agenda, simply seek out one of the area parks, woods, lakes or ponds for any amount of outdoor fun and adventure. Fishing, camping, skiing, horseback riding, boating, golfing, swimming, hiking, jogging and canoeing are only a few of the plentiful recreation options available in the area. Boat ramps are available at Brownville, DeSoto, Nocatee, Lettuce Lake, Liverpool-Sunnebreeze and Deep Creek parks. Morgan Park and Hargrave-Esmeralda Park are also popular public facilities.
