Higher Education


East Orlando is served by two public institutions of higher learning. Whether straight out of high school or adults looking to further their career, students who wish to continue their education will find unique opportunities just beyond their front doors.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is a four-year institution that offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. In total, UCF offers over 200 academic degree programs and serves over 48,000 students annually. Incoming freshman have an average GPA of 3.73 and an average SAT score of 1217. These averages rank UCF second in the state for freshman academic achievement. Considered one of the top metropolitan research universities in the country, UCF continues to produce quality graduates who go on to work in all walks of life.

Valencia Community College (VCC) is a two-year college with a significant satellite campus in East Orlando. VCC offers 42 university pre-majors and an A.A. degree that guarantees admission to one of Florida’s state universities. The community college also has a DirectConnect program that guarantees admission to nearby UCF. In addition, VCC offers 33 A.S. degrees that allow students to pursue a bachelor’s degree or go directly into the workforce. VCC has a 93% job placement rate.

In addition to the public institutions, East Orlando is also home to a variety of private colleges, universities, and seminaries. Each offers a unique set of degree programs to meet the growing needs of East Orlando.
