contentsGreater Homestead/Florida City FL Chamberads

Welcome

fireworks

I am profoundly honored to serve as the Chairman of the Greater Homestead/Florida City Chamber of Commerce for 2005-2006. With the explosive growth of Homestead, Florida City, Naranja and Redland communities, I feel that this is a pivotal time for our organization and one of the most exciting in our 90 year history.

During this period of dynamic growth and change to our communities the Chamber of Commerce must be able to grow and change with it, in order to best serve you, our members and the business community as a whole.

Each of my predecessor’s has had an overall theme for their term of office. Danny Lipe’s year focused on Education and how that affected the Quality of Life for our members and the area’s citizens. Iggy Fiallos’ year was all about growth of the Chamber and Sue Newman’s theme was Networking and increasing the Member to Member business interactions and opportunities.

Following in the logical path of these themes and in keeping with a long term strategy, I feel that the next focus should be on the “Image” of the Chamber. I am not talking just about the visual look of our collateral material, but also the way the Chamber is perceived by you, its members, the local community and the business community through out the region. We must be the ONE organization that the business community relies on to be their voice and to come to their aid when they need help. This is one of my primary goals for this year.

In the upcoming year, you are going to see many changes in your Chamber. We have been working on upgrading the look of our collateral material. We continue to upgrade our website in order to keep you better informed and offer additional advertising opportunities. This year we will be upgrading our data base system to allow us to better serve the membership and provide for a more effective mode of communication. Not to mention the biggest change of all to our image, the move to our new headquarters.

The move to the historic Lily Lawrence Bow Library this spring, will almost double our space and our capacity to serve our members. There will be a larger conference room and additional areas for members to meet as well as a computer station for members to access the internet. Having our own building will be a huge boost to our image as a professional organization.

Chamber building

This year we are also revamping the structure and divisions of the Chamber in order to streamline our efforts and to provide more opportunities for involvement by more members. Each of these divisions has a vital role in the success of the Chamber and I urge all of you to participate in the process. For me, this is the fun part of my Chamber membership. Remember, you can only get as much out of your membership as you put into it.

In closing, I want to assure you that I will do my utmost during my Chairmanship to make the Chamber the best that it can be. However, I need your help. We are a tremendous force of over 700 members. Together as a team, we can take the Chamber to new heights in the upcoming year and into the future.

Thank you,

Bob Farnes
Chairman 2005-2006
