Florida Power & Light Company serves all of Brevard County. All deposits for Florida Power & Light Company vary according to credit report. The City Gas Company of Florida supplies natural gas to Brevard County. A variable meter deposit is required, refundable after 24 months to customers with good payment records. Call (800) 993-7546 for service for existing homes and (321) 632-1734 for newly constructed homes.


AT&T provides phone service to the area and can be reached at (800) 288-2020 (available 24 hours a day).

Melbourne supplies water to its residents and those of Indian Harbour Beach, Satellite Beach, Melbourne Beach, Melbourne Village and parts of West Melbourne. Residents wanting service must go to Melbourne City Hall, 900 E. Strawbridge Avenue between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays. Call (321) 727-2900. Suntree, Baytree and Viera’s water is supplied by the city of Cocoa. Residents are required to apply in person at city hall, 603 Brevard Avenue in Cocoa Village. Call (321) 639-7500.

All new residents must apply for Florida tags and titles within 10 days after they begin work, enroll children in school or apply for a homestead exemption. A driver’s license is required within 30 days after establishing residency, claiming homestead exemption, beginning employment, enrolling a child in school or registering to vote. Permanent Brevard residents who are U.S. citizens over 18 years old can register to vote. Brevard County Libraries

Brevard County Libraries currently has over 1.2 million volumes in the collection. The libraries also own over 112,000 video recordings and more than 61,900 sound recordings. Library cards are valid at all locations. Special genealogy collections are located at the Central, Melbourne and North Brevard libraries. Each library maintains special collections for the physically and visually handicapped. Brevard County Libraries make the Internet available to all library users. Every library has computers with Internet access that patrons may use at no charge. Free public Internet access is offered for persons with wireless-enabled portable computers or PDAs.
