Welcome Letter

graphicSituated just north of Tampa and St. Petersburg along Florida’s west coast lies beautiful Pasco County. The county was established in June of 1887 and named in honor of Samuel W. Pasco of Monticello - speaker of the Florida House and a United States Senator. The County is comprised of 745 square miles, including 123 miles of waterfront. Centrally located along Florida’s west coast along the Gulf of Mexico, the mild climate is ideal for outdoor activities throughout the year. Residents are treated to plenty of sunshine throughout the year, with April and May typically being the sunniest months. Summer temperatures average in the mid ‘80s, and winter temperatures average in the low ‘70s. Average annual rainfall in Pasco County is 54.09 inches, the majority of which is received from June through September. The earliest inhabitants of this region were members of the Calusa Indian tribe, and a historical fiesta is held annually to celebrate the tribe’s love of their native land. This event draws residents from throughout North America each year.

There is something for everyone in Pasco County. Area theatres provide entertainment year-round, and nearby Tampa and St. Petersburg offer a vast array of cultural and recreational activities. Just a short drive away, residents and visitors can enjoy Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios Florida, Busch Gardens and a myriad of attractions.
