Pinellas Park, a full service community, operates under a City Manager-City Council form of government, with 584 employees on staff. The City Council is the elected legislative body, comprised of a Mayor and four City Council members. Residents of Pinellas Park are served by a large, sophisticated public safety force that includes a police department staff of over 160. Unsworn staff members contribute to the police force in a host of valuable capacities, including as staff assistants, school crossing guards and public safety dispatchers. The result of this efficient system is a safe environment with crime rates that compare favorably to communities of similar size.
