Pinellas Park, a full service community, operates under a City Manager-City Council form of government, with 584 employees on staff. The City Council is the elected legislative body, comprised of a Mayor and four City Council members. They represent the Pinellas Park community in setting policy, approving the budget and determining the tax rate.

Residents of Pinellas Park are served by a large, sophisticated public safety force that includes a police department staff of over 160. Unsworn staff members contribute to the police force in a host of valuable capacities, including as staff assistants, school crossing guards and public safety dispatchers. The result of this efficient system is a safe environment with crime rates that compare favorably to communities of similar size.

The fire department serves Pinellas Park and the Gateway area, and has a staff of over 100 who respond to all of the regionís fire emergencies. The departmentís performance history has earned it an outstanding reputation in the insurance industry, resulting in low premiums for homeowners and business owners. Additionally, the department works with Pinellas County to respond to the areaís emergency medical needs and is part of the countyís hazardous materials response team.

Other services provided by the city include drinking water, sewage, recycling, parks and recreation and the Pinellas Park Library.
