contentsSouth Lake FL Chamberads

Take sunshine, the temperate waters of hundreds of lakes, and the charm of old-fashioned Southern hospitality, and you get South Lake County! Its unique communities offer diverse destinations for tourists seeking an active vacation and those looking simply to kick back and relax amid the breathtaking beauty of nature.

South Lake is known for its wealth of water sports. The pristine lake waters cover an impressive 200 square miles and invite swimming, boating, skiing and fishing throughout the year. With an average water temperature of 71 degrees Fahrenheit, who would not want to dip a toe in these waters? Skiers certainly do. The county is home to leading water ski schools that teach novices and advanced skiers alike to skim across those waters. A more tranquil—even romantic—adventure is to hop aboard one of the area’s sunset canal cruises that depart from various points throughout the county.

If water does not tempt you, then look skyward for a chance at adventure. Premier schools teach tourists and hobbyists from around the world how to sailplane, parasail, and glide.

On land, athletes from across the globe meet physical challenges at The National Training Center in Clermont. This unique, 300-acre campus features sports, health and fitness education for the young at heart to some of the world’s top professional athletes.

Last, but far from least, South Lake is just a half-hour drive from the sights and sounds of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, and other attractions in Orlando. We are also an hour and a half to two hours from the Atlantic and Gulf coasts and Kennedy Space Center, Busch Gardens, and other appealing activities. South Lake is blessed with the rustic charm of small hotels, quaint bed and breakfasts, luxurious resorts, and a sense of “Old Florida” that is treasured and preserved.
