A wide range of health care facilities are located in SouthShore. Over 150 physicians and surgeons, from general practice to medical specialties and dentists, are in the community, with hospitals, health centers and long-term care facilities nearby.
Located in Sun City Center is South Bay Hospital, a 112-bed acute care hospital.
The hospital offers specialty health care services including cardiology, gerontology, orthopedics, oncology, pulmonary, gynecology, gastro-enterology, ENT, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, and neurosurgery. These are in addition to traditional services such as emergency, surgery, medical and critical care, and skilled nursing. The Diagnostic Imaging Department provides a range of general diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine testing and therapeutic radiology treatments including high-speed spiral CT scans, MRI, and mammography. South Bay Rehab Center offers physical, occupational and speech therapies, pulmonary and cardiac rehabilitation and a diabetes management program. The hospitals Centers of Care include the Diabetes Care Program, Digestive Care Center, Memory Loss Clinic and the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Program.
Brandon Regional Hospital, less than a 20-minute drive from most points in SouthShore, provides obstetric and pediatric services in addition to full-service acute care. Tampa General Hospital, approximately 35 minutes north, has the regions only trauma center; other special services include a regional transplant center and regional burn center in addition to complete hospital services.
