Chamber Letter

Welcome to North Florida!

As a regional Chamber, serving Bradford, Union and Southwest Clay counties, we have the ability to offer our members many opportunities. We continually seek to provide you the services you find most valuable, and that meet the needs of our varied members. Our membership told us in our member surveys that they wanted more services and benefits, that they wanted to work with our local state and federal policy makers to assure that they understand the business community's views, and that they wanted to continue economic development. The Chamber leadership has committed to responding to these requests.

We are making sure that our members have access to the latest in information technology to promote their businesses. Already in place is our Florida Works program to help ensure our area will have a quality workforce. This program allows for employment registry from both the employer and the job seeker. Now employers can post their jobs, which will be available to job seekers worldwide through a number of large Internet search engines, or come in to our local offices to view job postings or testing and training opportunities.

We are establishing an interactive kiosk that will be placed outside of the Chamber office in historic downtown Starke. This kiosk will provide a variety of information and educational opportunities on a twenty-four hour, seven day a week venture. Local restaurants, hotels and other businesses and attractions can advertise on these kiosks, and even offer information, such as directions or menus, or discount coupons can be printed by interested visitors.

Of utmost importance is that we continue to enhance the economic climate of our community. We are working hard to make our community attractive to high quality, clean businesses that can offer well paying jobs to our citizens and increase our tax base.

Education is also critical to economic development. We are working closely with our public schools to help them retain and recruit teachers. We are proud of our members who have mentored our students and assisted in providing scholarships and computers to deserving students for post high school education.

The Chamber is committed to making sure our members' voices are heard; by working together with our governmental partners we can shape our community to meet our needs and those of future generations; and by uniting together we can make our communities stand out as one of the best.
