If you're a movie or TV fan, you might be interested to know that several Hollywood productions have been filmed in this area. Numerous locations in Bradford County and Starke were used for scenes in the motion pictures "G.I. Jane" and Tigerland," and for the Fox network television reality series "Boot Camp," among others.

For history buffs, the Camp Blanding Museum, once a training center for nine U.S. Army divisions during World War II, includes a refurbished barracks building with photo exhibits and artifacts honoring the history of the base and those who trained there. The Florida Regimental Memorial lists Floridians who lost their lives in WWII. Memorial Park is a large area with monuments, displays of weapons and vehicles surrounding a lagoon, fountain and picnic area.

Those who appreciate nature might enjoy a behind the scenes tour of a working butterfly farm. The Butterfly Farm experience begins with an indoor presentation, then a leisurely walk through the butterfly gardens and then to the butterfly barn where free-flying butterflies are the stars.

If just-for-fun festivals are more to your taste, then explore the area all year-round. You can pick from a list including but not limited to: the Strawberry Festival, the Friday Festival, the Bike Festival, the Santa Fe Arts Festival, the Annual Bluegrass Festival, Labor Fest, the Great Pumpkin Escape, the Starke Fall Festival, the County Christmas Craft Show or the Bradford County Fair.
