The North Florida area is home to what some have called the premier recreational lake in the world. Kingsley Lake, located approximately six miles east of Starke, covers about 2,000 acres. Sources claim it may be the oldest and highest lake in the state, situated on the edge of the Trail Ridge formation. The lake has a sandy bottom, and its deepest part is about 90 feet. Because Kingsley Lake is nearly circular, pilots call it the Silver Dollar lake. The lake is famous for its clear waters and its stability. There are several hundred docks on the north and west sides of the lake, making water skiing and fishing popular activities.

Being centrally located in the Sunshine State allows for a wide range of leisure activities all year-round. In addition to numerous water sports and lake entertainment, the area provides wide-open opportunities for both action and relaxing. Choose from hiking, biking, tennis, camping, bird-watching, sunbathing, golf, motor sports, target and trap shooting, recreational flying and much more. Whatever your pleasure, you never have to go far to find some fun.

Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park is located on rolling sandhills in an area known as the Central Ridge of Florida. Marshes, lakes and scrub provide a habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the park on a 2,000-acre site during the 1930s. Cabins, camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, nature trails and canoeing are available.
