Business & Industry

Strong and Vibrant

The list of major industries in Bradford County is long and impressive. Some of the top industry groups located there in 3rd quarter 2006 included public administration, healthcare and social assistance, accommodation and food services, construction, professional, scientific and technical services and wholesale trade.

The Chamber exists to help local businesses grow and prosper. Our challenge is to enhance the growth potential for new and existing businesses, to help create clean, well-paying jobs for our residents, and to provide networking opportunities to be used as a springboard for collaborations. The Chamber works with both cities and counties to create an environment conducive for business development, and assistance is provided whenever appropriate.

In its continuing efforts to provide an atmosphere that supports business, the North Florida Regional Chamber is working hard to increase incentive programs to assist companies with expansion or relocation in Bradford County, Union County and Southwest Clay County.

One of the incentives offered is a Rural Job Tax Credit Program. A new business may apply for a tax credit of $1,000.00 per employee. A company must employ 10 or more to be eligible. Please call the Chamber at 904-964-5278 to see what new programs have been added.

The research based FloridaWorks Career Building Skills Program was developed with extensive input from Florida businesses through a grant from the Florida Department of Education Workforce Development. It is designed to meet the employment training needs of adults and youth with low literacy skills and limited work experience. There are two components of FloridaWorks: Job Readiness and Job Retention.

The Starke Council For Economic Outreach (SCEO) also promotes the community, emphasizing its strong labor force, excellent educational system and affordable cost of living.
