Welcome To Our Community

Welcome to the North Florida Region! With an ideal location, pleasant climate, and acres of warm hospitality, both visitors and residents alike have discovered that this place has it all. The community is overflowing with historical landmarks, beautiful lakes and managed wildlife areas.

Bradford, Union and Western Clay counties are known as "The Northern Lake Region," and lead the state in fresh water lakes. Bradford County is famous locally for having the "sweetest strawberries this side of heaven." In addition, because it is centrally situated, the region is a convenient thoroughfare for travelers going north and south, and to the Gulf or Atlantic coasts.

The landscape and climate here are different than the sub-tropical environment most people associate with Florida. The area offers gently rolling hills, magnolia trees and large southern live oaks draped with Spanish moss. The region also has large expanses of pine tree forests. The climate is quite mild and sunny most of the year. Temperature highs range from 90 to 105 degrees in the summer and from 50 to 70 in the winter.

Our downtown historic district was designated a Florida Main Street in August, 2005. The region has seen amazing growth and excitement in the area, and with the help of the City of Starke and some pioneers who believe in the vision, over 78 new jobs and 22 new businesses have been created.

Total private and public investment in the Main Street program area in two years has been approximately $5,861,000. The downtown is thriving with entrepreneurs and continues to attract a diverse array of businesses, keeping the area a truly unique destination.

The last Friday of each month we have a "Friday Festival" where the streets are closed, cars cruise, live entertainment plays and the restaurants and shops are open. Tuesday evenings are "Bike Night" downtown. We have an annual Strawberry Festival every April and other events that keep the downtown alive and well.

The gorgeous recreation areas and quaint downtown shopping destinations make the many unique towns of North Florida most appealing. If you're looking for friendliness and hometown charm, for pioneer spirit combined with modern amenities, easy transportation and a great quality of life, then you should see what we've got to offer. The North Florida Regional Chamber of Commerce invites you to visit the communities of Bradford County, Union County, and Southwest Clay County.
