Learning takes place mostly in new and newly remodeled facilities, and students regularly perform at or above state and national averages on standardized tests. Dahlonega’s North Georgia College & State University: The Military College of Georgia was founded in 1873 and is the nation’s only public, coeducational, liberal arts, military university. The university offers more than 50 undergraduate majors, as well as graduate degrees in education, community counseling, physical therapy, nursing and public administration to more than 4,000 students. Nearby educational institutions include Gainesville College, Lanier Technical Institute and Brenau University.
