Government

The city of Dunwoody provides quality services to its citizens and proudly supports the largest economic engine in the southeast by planning in a careful and thoughtful manner. Our city has a rich history and maintains a strong desire to preserve a close, vibrant community atmosphere that values family life and the entrepreneurial spirit.

Incorporated in 2009, the city of Dunwoody operates under a council-manager form of government. The Dunwoody City Council is comprised of a mayor and six council members elected by the people on a nonpartisan ballot to four-year terms.

The Mayor and Council serve as the legislative and policy making body of the municipal government. Together they enact city ordinances, appropriate funds to conduct city business and provide policy direction to the administrative staff.

The City Manager works closely with the Mayor and Council to assist them in formulating policies and programs. Overseeing all city employees, the City Manager is responsible for the efficient ongoing operation of all city services as set forth by the City Council.

All city departments and city staff work together to provide superior services, support and programs which enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors.
