To start, get acquainted with one of America’s finest cities by taking the self-guided Downtown Walking and Cell Phone tours, an entertaining and educational journey through the City Center district. Here you’ll see the heart and spirit of our community. Much of downtown Aurora is part of the Fox Walk, a relaxing urban walkway lined with flowers, benches, fountains, and plazas. You’ll discover distinctive historic architecture along the beautiful Fox River, various shops, restaurants, apartments, and public spaces. On the Fox Walk, you’ll want to visit Stolp Island, an outdoor museum of architecture now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. With more than 20 significant historic structures, many of which are outstanding examples of terra cotta work displayed on “china front” buildings, Stolp Island is a one-of-a-kind experience.

The Fox Valley Park District has trails and open spaces easily accessible from all parts of downtown Aurora. Other delightful public open spaces downtown include Rotary Park, Millennium Plaza, and Sesquicentennial Park. Exploring our city will definitely give you an appetite. So why not take a break and sample some of Aurora’s fine cuisine at any one of our great restaurants?
