Bensenville walk-in clinics

Residents of Bensenville and surrounding communities have a new walk-in clinic to consider when they have a minor illness or injury, need routine immunizations or require a basic physical.

Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare has opened a walk-in clinics inside the new Jewel-Osco store at 1127 S. York Road, Bensenville. It is one of nine facilities around the suburbs.

Walk-in clinic services are provided by board-certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants. These clinics accept most insurances and also offer a self-pay option.

This is a more affordable option for basic medical care than an immediate care clinic or an emergency room. No appointment is necessary and wait times are usually very short.

The clinics are designed to treat common, nonlife-threatening conditions like upper respiratory infections, coughs, flu, ear infections, pink eye and bladder infections in patients 18 months and older. They also offer tuberculosis tests, blood pressure checks and routine physicals.

“While the clinics are located within Jewel-Osco, they are owned and managed by Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare,” said Ann Skoglund, manager of the Edward-Elmhurst Walk-in Clinics. “Therefore, if the practitioners encounter an ailment or injury that is beyond their scope, they are easily able to refer the patient to the most appropriate level of care within the health care system.”

Those who do not speak English should consider bringing a friend or family member who can interpret for them because clinic staff is not bi-lingual, Skoglund noted. Registration forms in both Spanish and Polish will be available.

Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays. For a complete list of walk-in clinic services and wait times at each location, visit
