Village of Carol Stream

Mayor Frank Saverino Sr. and the Board of Trustees thank the Rotary Club of Carol Stream for preparing this excellent community resource map and for its continued partnership in enhancing our community. To this end, the Village, Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce encourage residents to shop local when at all possible. For every $100 spent in local independent retail establishments, $68 is returned to the community in the form of job wages, sales and tax revenue. It is estimated that if 75 percent of the Village’s employed population spent $50 each month in local retail stores, it would generate an additional $175,000 in sales tax revenue each year that would be put back into the local economy. The Shop Carol Stream program works in that same vein to link local residents with Carol Stream retailers who offer product specials, discount coupons and customer loyalty incentives to keep residents’ dollar in their very own community. In addition, shopping local saves time, money, is better for the environment, achieves higher-than-average customer service ratings and helps provide support for local nonprofits who receive 20 percent of their funding from local businesses.

In 2011, Money® magazine ranked Carol Stream as one of the top 100 small communities in the nation to raise a family. The magazine’s independent data service used a wide cross section of data to calculate their rankings, which included neighborhood safety, school test scores and quality data, the cost of living, the median home sale price, accessibility to cultural events and recreational opportunities, the fiscal strength of its government organizations, as well as average commute to work, average annual sunshine, rainfall and temperature to name a few. Carol Stream is also proud to be ranked as the most livable small town in Illinois for 2011, outranking Glen Ellyn

(No. 54), Oswego (No. 58) and South Elgin (No. 98). This outstanding achievement is a testament to all segments of the community, including the government, business, educational and nonprofit sectors, which are working together to continue to make Carol Stream an enjoyable place to live, work and raise a family.
