Cary Park District Facilities

Community Center
The Cary Park District Community Center is the home to a variety of programs and activities for a wide range of ages and interests. Arts, athletics, dance, drama, and fitness are just some of the programs you can find at the Cary Park District. Program information can be found in the seasonal brochure that is delivered to homes three times a year. Visit carypark.com for more information. The Community Center also offers eight rooms available for rent for private gatherings and celebrations.

Fitness Center
Located within the Community Center, the Fitness Center offers residents state of the art fitness equipment and memberships at reasonable fees.

Community Pool
The outdoor Community Pool is the perfect place to cool off on hot summer days. Open June through August, the pool offers visitors diving boards, lap lanes, a toddler pool with a slide, concession/picnic area, lounge chairs, and locker rooms and showers. Visitors may choose to purchase a seasonal pool pass or pay a daily fee.

Cary Veterans Park
Located along U.S. Highway 14 at Crystal St., the 6.2 acre park is one of the oldest in the community. At this park families can play tennis, enjoy a game of horseshoes, or just take a stroll around the serene, willow dotted pond.

Lions Park
Located along Silver Lake Rd. north of Three Oaks Rd., this sprawling 105 acre park is where the action can be found. Families in the community play softball, soccer and football, enjoy summer concerts at the amphitheater, play on the baseball themed playground or skate in the skate park.

Jaycee Park
Located along Silver Lake Rd. at Cary-Algonquin Rd. this 15.5 acre park features a beautiful pond that offers great fishing during the warm weather and serves as Cary’s skating rink during the winter months. Featuring at heated shelter it is the hottest pace to be on a cold winter night.

Kaper Park
This 15.5 acre park is home to Timbertown, a playground designed by local children. Featuring a whimsical castle theme, the playground is a hit with the jungle-gym set. The park also features soccer fields where you can find hundreds of kids kicking up their heels in the spring and fall.

Sands Main Street Prairie
Located adjacent to E. Main St. this 80 acre nature preserve is noted for its rare gravel hill prairie. Visitors can get lost in nature and enjoy the silence walking the two looping trails.

Hoffman Park
A 265 acre park, this park offers a dog play area, community gardens and fishing pier. Hoffman Park also offers trails that can help one escape to nature and enjoy a walk, bike ride, or the thrill of inline skating.

Cary-Grove Park
Part of the Cary-Grove campus, the 81 acre park offers a trail system, playground, soccer fields, and is easily accessible via car or walking paths.

Natural Area Locations
Rich in natural heritage, Cary offers some unique and diverse natural areas with native and restored prairies, oak savannas and wetlands. The Park District needs the community’s help in maintaining our natural treasures. August Kraus Senior Center

The Kraus Senior Center, open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., offers a wide variety of recreational activities and social services for the adult and senior population. Programs range from theme parties to trips, special clubs to health seminars, and the Golden Diners Lunch Program. Algonquin Township and the Pace Bus offer transportation services to seniors.

NISRA
The Cary Park District is a member of the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association. NISRA has provided recreation programs for people with disabilities since 1976. For more information about their services, call (815) 459-0737 or visit www.nisra.org.

FOX RIVER GROVE PARKS

Lions Park
Lions Park, located on Beachway, is approx. 6.05 acres along the Fox River. The park contains grass parkland, picnic areas, playground equipment, baseball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a shelter and Fox River shoreline fishing.

Foxmoor Park
Foxmoor Park consists of 29.50 acres within the Foxmoor subdivision. Foxmoor Park contains grass parkland, a gazebo by the ponds, and open areas for hiking and enjoying nature.

Foxmoor/Jaycee Park
The five-acre Foxmoor / Jaycee Park contains a shelter, picnic areas, playground, fishing, hiking trails, and combination soccer and baseball field.

Picnic Grove Park
Picnic Grove Park is approx. 40 acres. The main parcel of 29.5 acres lies along the Fox River. The second parcel is 1.5 acres designated as a natural area located adjacent to the first, just south of Barberry Trail. The third parcel offers 9 acres of natural vegetation connected by a narrow stretch of land running from the far eastern portion of the main parcel. The park contains heavily wooded hills, meadows of wildflowers, wetlands, savanna, grass parkland, a superb sledding hill, a gazebo, two shelters, volleyball court, a new playground and Fox River shoreline fishing. A non-motorized boat launch is also available at this site.

Kids Care Court
Kids Care Court is a multipurpose basketball and roller blade court. The 100’ x 200’ area is flooded for ice skating in the winter.

Stanger Park
Stanger Park is located adjacent to Kids Care Court and is less than one acre. The park contains playground equipment for school age children.

Algonquin Road Park
Algonquin Road Park consists of 6.75 acres and has s full size soccer field that the Fox River Grove Recreation Council schedules for games.

Hunters Farm Park
Hunters Farm Park is located at Bridle Path and Saddle Lanes in Hunters Farm subdivision north of IL-Rte. 22. It is made up of 15.35 acres and has a picnic area, tot and school aged playground and combination soccer / baseball fields. Ball field group use is scheduled through Fox River Grove Recreation Council.

All park group use by residents and non-residents requires a park permit. Group use athletic activity is scheduled through Fox River Grove Recreation Council. For information, contact the Fox Fiver Grove Village Hall at (847) 639-3170.

Fel-Pro RRR

This site offers a variety of recreation amenities including two small fishing ponds, 2.2 miles of nature trails, a 1 mile paved trail, two picnic shelters, sand volleyball court, basketball court, ball diamond, disc golf course and horseshoe pits.

Fox Bluff
Cary-Algonquin and Cold Springs Roads, Cary

Noted for its rolling hills and spring-fed streams, this site is home to oak woodlands, a sedge meadow, and a half-mile of Fox River frontage. A picnic shelter, .3 mile hiking trail and short .25 mile paved trail that lead to the river are also available for visitors.

Hickory Grove Highlands/Lyons Prairie & Marsh
500 Hickory Nut Grove Lane, Cary

This site offers an unusual diversity of habitats and is home to an Illinois State Nature Preserve. The Highlands serves as a refuge for northern Illinois wildlife, while the Riverfront provides bank fishing along the Fox River. Camping, horseback riding, and 4.75 miles of hiking trails are featured.

The Hollows

Lake Atwood provides clear, deep water for non-motorized boats, canoes and kayaks. Fishing, group camping, and 5.5 miles of looped trails for hikers and cross-country skiers make this a popular spot.

Prairieview Education Center
2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake

This environmental education facility offers a variety of education programs and exhibits throughout the year. Outdoors, visitors can explore 6.5 miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails. This facility hosts traveling exhibits, a reference library, and a family drop-in “Exploration Station.”

Silver Creek
1200 Block Rawson Bridge Road, Cary

This site offers 5 miles of hiking and a small, 1-acre fishing pond. The southern 1.5-mile trail loop is groomed for skate skiing in the winter. The Prairieview Education Center is on the north side of the site.

Foxford Hills Golf Club is a challenging 7,023 yard, par 72 golf course owned and operated by the Cary Park District. Its features include 18 spectacular holes, a 32-stall lighted driving range, a bright and airy, well stocked pro shop, beautiful clubhouse with a restaurant, and friendly attentive customer service. The course has matured beautifully since it opened in 2002 and is heralded as a must-play in the Chicagoland area.

Chalet Hills Golf Club is a golf paradise.
