contentsChannahon-Minooka IL Chamberads

Transportation

Situated just under 50 miles southwest of Chicago’s bustling downtown, Channahon and Minooka take pleasure in the area’s ideal locale in the suburbs. While Channahon stretches over both Grundy County and Will County—the fastest-growing county in Illinois and the 10th-fastest in the nation—Minooka’s locality places within Grundy, Will and Kendall counties.

The two villages are nestled between Interstates 80 and 55. Interstate 80 provides a nationwide east-west route, with Interstate 55 offering quick north-south travel into Chicago. An additional key thoroughfare, U.S. Route 6, allows commuters another east-west route in the region.

The Illinois River, flowing just south of Channahon, is utilized for the transport of goods to and from area industries. Rail service is also accessible here, with freight rail connections available to local and regional carriers.

Less than 10 miles from Channahon and Minooka is the Joliet Regional Airport, which handles charter, commuter and corporate aircraft. Chicago’s O’Hare International and Midway International Airports are also located nearby—a short 45-minute drive.
